Know Your Rights
Know Your Rights: Individuals have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions from ICE. They do not have to open the door unless presented with a judicial warrant (signed by a judge, not an ICE-issued warrant).
Do Not Sign Anything: Immigrants should not sign any documents ICE presents without first consulting a lawyer.
Ask for a Lawyer: Everyone has the right to legal representation, even if they cannot afford one.
Train Volunteers on Emergency Protocols: Volunteers can help by ensuring families know their rights and are prepared with emergency plans, including power of attorney for children, if necessary.
